Proposed Amendments to Gorrie PTA Bylaws
The following proposed Amendments to the Gorrie PTA Bylaws will be up for a vote on December 5, 2017, at the General PTA Meeting:
1. Article VI:
a. The officers of this association shall consist of a president, Four (4) (number) vice-presidents, a recording secretary, a corresponding secretary, a treasurer.
a.The officers of this association shall consist of a president, Five (5) (number) vice-presidents, a recording secretary, a treasurer.
(Note that the change from 4-5 vice presidents was approved by the Florida PTA compliance group and voted on and passed by the General Membership in 2016, this is just to update the wording).
2. Article VI:
b. Officers shall be elected by ballot annually in the month of March/April….

3. Article VI:
e. Only people who will have served on the PTA board for at least one year (by the time they are President) are eligible to run for president. If there are no interested current or past board members, a person serving as a chair of a committee will be eligible, if there are no interested parties within the current or past board or chairs, the nomination committee may expand their search to the general PTA membership.
4. Article VII:
ADDITION TO: e. the 5th vice-president shall serve as an aide to the President.
5. Article VII:
Section 3: The recording secretary shall record the minutes of all meetings of the association and of the executive committee and board and shall perform such other duties as may be delegated.
ADDITION TO: The recording secretary shall prepare all written communications as directed by the association or by the executive board and shall perform such other duties as may be delegated.
6. DELETE Section 4.
7. CHANGE Section 5 to Section 4.
8. CHANGE Section 6 to Section 5.
