For the 2018 - 2019 school year, we're very excited to launch our new theme, "Be the Change," the second phase of our incredibly successful
Kind = Cool campaign. Through this campaign, we're encouraging our kids to take meaningful action in this kindness movement.
As Mahatma Gandhi famously said, "You must be the change you want to see in the world." In other words, although life changes are inevitable, we can also initiate personal change so we can rise to the challenge and become a bigger and better person as a result.
How will YOU be the change?
During the 2017 - 2018 school year, Gorrie Elementary launched the Kind = Cool campaign, with focus on the importance of teaching and promoting kindness to our students. In just one month, students, parents and the faculty showered the school with kindness by leaving “Kind Chalk Messages” in the front of the school, giving “Kindness Shout-Outs” on the Morning Show, leaving anonymous kindness notes in desks and backpacks, filling classroom kindness buckets.

How'd we fare in our challenge to complete 5,000 acts of kindness in 15 days?
We did amazing, coming in at a whopping 13,786 or 23.2 per child!
At Gorrie, we believe that kindness is ultimately a contributor to happiness and is a quality that can be contagious. Through this kindness campaign, we raised the awareness and established a foundation for kindness, compassion, understanding and respect in our school -- and we had fun doing it!
