Parent/guardian participation is a crucial component of a child's education. Children need to see that their parents/guardians value their efforts and successes, and that the knowledge and skills they learn at school are important for later success in life.
There are many ways to volunteer at Gorrie, any of which lets your child(ren) know how interested you are in their education. With your support and active participation, we will have a school in which parents, teachers, administrators and students work together to achieve the educational goals of Gorrie.
We ask each Gorrie family to spend at least one hour every quarter participating at school or at home in a Gorrie activity, and/or to donate one item every quarter to the classroom (such as a snack for the class, a book for the class library, equipment for recess, etc.). Every contribution of time or materials, no matter how small, provides multiple benefits to the entire Gorrie community.
Safety on the Gorrie campus is one of our highest priorities. As part of our on-going effort to insure the safety of everyone on campus, all adults visiting Gorrie will be required to sign in at the Main Office and get a visitor's badge with their name on it. This badge must be visibly displayed at all times while on campus. All volunteers must complete a SERVE form prior to volunteering in the school. Please download, print and return the completed form to school.
